A 40-year-old organiser of an illegal channel for smuggling people across the border was detained in Lviv.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET informs.
According to intelligence, he searched for potential clients on the Internet and offered them illegal border crossing for USD 12,000.
As noted, the dealer kept $11,500 of this money for himself, and handed over $500 to the driver who delivered the men to the territory of Zakarpattia region. The organiser then promised to provide detailed instructions for illegal border crossing outside official checkpoints.
The fraudster was detained red-handed while receiving the money in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine (Detention by an authorised official). At the same time, the court imposed on him a custodial restraint with the right to be released on bail.
The organiser was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border). The man faces 7 to 9 years in prison for committing this crime.
