Ukraine is ready to discuss diplomatic way of returning occupied territories if it is guaranteed NATO membership, - Zelenskyy
Ukraine will not recognize the temporarily occupied territories as Russian.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with NBC News, Censor.NET reports.
"Legally, we will not recognize... our occupied territory as the territory of Russia. We will never do this," the head of state said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said he was ready to discuss giving up the occupied territory (without legal recognition) as part of a diplomatic agreement under which Ukraine could join NATO.
"Yes, we must return it diplomatically. Yes, we can. If we are in NATO, then it is clear why it is diplomatic, it is very clear," the President said.
The Head of State added that the priority is not to lose people. According to him, Ukraine will look for a good diplomatic way to return the territorial losses, but "people are the most important thing today."
