Macron tells about results of emergency summit in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

He announced this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

Macron said that after meeting with European leaders and the EU leadership, he had talked to Trump and Zelenskyy.

"We seek a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine. To achieve this, Russia must end its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and credible security guarantees for the Ukrainians. Otherwise, there is a risk that this ceasefire will end up like the Minsk agreements.

We will work on this together with all Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians. This is the key," the French leader said.

According to Macron, the leaders are convinced that Europe needs to invest more in its defence and increase its competitiveness to meet the needs of the present and the future.

"Work will continue based on the European Commission’s proposals, both in supporting Ukraine and in developing and investing in our defense. This agenda, defined in 2022 at the Versailles Summit, must simply be carried out. Decisions, actions, coherence. Quickly," the president summed up.

As a reminder, Macron has called a meeting of European leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine. The meeting will be attended by the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain and Denmark, representing the Baltic and Scandinavian countries, as well as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Macron spoke with Trump before the ‘Ukrainian’ summit in Paris.

He also spoke with Zelenskyy after the summit.
