Trump, Putin meeting depends on progress toward ending Ukraine war, - Rubio

A possible meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will largely depend on whether any progress is made in ending the war in Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, citing Reuters, this was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
He said that he had discussed the possibility of such a meeting during a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Saudi Arabia last Tuesday.
"There isn't going to be a meeting until we know what the meeting is going to be about," The US Secretary of State told the Russian Foreign Minister and other members of the Moscow delegation.
In an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, Rubio said that ‘typically, you don't have these meetings until you know there's some kind of outcome or some kind of progress.’
"I think when that meeting happens will largely depend on whether we can make any progress on ending the war in Ukraine," The US Secretary of State said.
Rubio also believes that such a meeting should be ‘what seals the deal’ and that ‘everyone should celebrate that President Trump is a peacemaker’.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy postponed his visit to Saudi Arabia in order not to give ‘legitimacy’ to the meeting between the US and Russian delegations in Riyadh on 18 February.
