Republicans initiate full US withdrawal from UN

US wants to withdraw from UN completely. What is known

Republicans in the United States have begun efforts to withdraw the United States from the United Nations. They are concerned that the international organization does not promote American interests and does not meet President Trump's "America First" agenda.

This is reported by Fox News, Censor.NET reports.

Thus, Senator Mike Lee introduced a draft law called the "Full Withdrawal from the United Nations Act of 2025". It proposes to terminate the United States' membership in the UN and its affiliated bodies and to stop funding these groups. The bill's co-author in the upper house is Senator Marsha Blackburn.

The bill is also co-sponsored by Republican representatives Mike Rogers of Alabama, Arizona's Aly Crane, Tennessee's Diane Harshbarger, Florida's Anna Paulina Luna, Wyoming's Harriet Hageman, Oklahoma's Josh Breslin, Kentucky's Thomas Massie, and Georgia's Marjorie Taylor Green.

The bill, in particular, states that the United States cannot participate in peace negotiations with the UN and prohibits the executive branch from entering into any membership agreements with the UN or its subsidiary organizations without Senate approval.

Texas Republican Chip Roy is ready to introduce the bill in the House of Representatives on February 21. According to him, the UN and its bodies do not promote the interests of Americans.

"The United Nations has become a platform for tyrants and a place to attack America and its allies. We must stop paying the price. As President Trump revolutionizes our foreign policy by putting America first, we must withdraw from this sham organization and prioritize real alliances that keep our country safe and prosperous," said Mike Lee.

The US foreign policy think tank Council on Foreign Relations said that the US provides more funding to the UN than other countries. The robes provided $18 billion in 2022, which is about a third of the UN's entire collective budget.

"The United Nations benefits from American tax dollars, often undermining our interests by attacking our allies and supporting our adversaries," said Chip Roy.

"What has the UN accomplished? Despite all the money and attention, this corrupt globalist organization has failed for decades to prevent wars, genocides, human rights violations, and even pandemics," he added.

The bill, in particular, stipulates that the United States cannot participate in peace talks with the UN. It also prohibits the executive branch from entering into any membership agreements with the UN or its subsidiary organizations without the approval of the Senate.
