UN Security Council adopts US resolution on war in Ukraine, which does not name Russia as aggressor

The UN Security Council votes in favour of a US resolution on the war in Ukraine, which does not name Russia as the aggressor.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Ukrinform.
It is noted that the text prepared by the American delegation consists of one sentence: "The General Assembly, expressing its sorrow at the tragic loss of life during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, reaffirming that the primary purpose of the United Nations, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, is the maintenance of international peace and security and the peaceful settlement of disputes, calls for a speedy end to the conflict and the further achievement of a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia."
"There were 10 countries in favour (the United States, Russia, China, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Guyana, Somalia, Pakistan, Panama, Algeria), 0 against and 5 abstentions (the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Greece, Slovenia).
France's Permanent Representative to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere, said that European countries "call for peace, which should be based on the UN Charter and international law and clearly distinguish between the aggressor, Russia, and the victim, Ukraine".
"There will be no peace and security anywhere if aggression is rewarded and if the law of the jungle prevails," he added.
Barbara Woodward, the UK's Permanent Representative to the UN, stressed that it is necessary to "insist on respect for the UN Charter and Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders".
According to her, "how and on what terms this war will end can only be resolved through negotiations with Ukraine". "No peace will be sustainable without the consent of Ukraine," Woodward stressed.
A similar text proposed by the United States for consideration by the UN General Assembly was approved with amendments by European countries.
On Monday, the UN General Assembly adopted two resolutions (Ukrainian and American with European amendments) condemning Russian aggression and calling for the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
