Budanov regarding prisoner exchange: Certain categories of prisoners have become ’problematic’ for both Ukraine and Russia

Budanov told which prisoners are difficult to exchange

The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that the exchange of certain categories of prisoners is difficult to perceive in the societies of Ukraine and Russia.

According to Censor.NET, he said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"It’s not about taboos, but about problematic categories because of our information wars. And you know, like in any information war, there are pros and cons. Some of the downsides of all these measures are that certain widely publicized categories have become problematic for both them and us. We have also significantly elevated the issue of Chechens and similar groups here. But they are just mountain shepherds—who cares about them? Yet society finds it very difficult to accept this. For them, it’s a matter of Azov, the marines, and everything related to Mariupol. For us, the Chechens are a vivid example," Budanov said.

According to the head of the DIU, the Coordination Center manages to return from captivity "in small batches" of people who have been held there since 2014.

"I believe that we will return everyone, because any war always ends with people returning to both sides. Don't forget that no matter who they are, Russians also have someone waiting for them in their families. The country, maybe not so much, but the families are waiting," he summarized.
