Syrskyi personally convinced military to launch offensive in Kursk region

Syrskyi spoke about the preparation of the Kursk operation

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that before the start of the operation in Kursk region, he personally convinced the soldiers to launch an offensive.

He said this in an interview with the Bombardier YouTube channel, Censor.NET reports.

He was asked if it was true that before the start of the operation in the Kursk region, he traveled directly to convince the brigades that it was necessary to do so.

"Yes, it was true. I met with each company, with the soldiers personally. We did not have so many troops. We went even with smaller forces than during the Kharkiv operation. We withdrew the brigades from combat, allowed them to prepare, and some battalions were brought in after the operation began," he said.

Syrskyi said that he explained to the soldiers why the operation was necessary.

"Indeed, for some of our servicemen, in particular for officers, it was a kind of barrier to cross the state border. Some said it was illegal. I asked: "How is it illegal?" I mean, they attacked us legally, but what we are doing is illegal? What is illegal about it? We did not violate the rules of war, we were defending our territory, we were attacking in the direction where the enemy forces were weakest at the time and the density of these troops was lowest. We attacked where the enemy was preparing to conduct an offensive operation in the summer," added the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
