The main tasks of the Russian occupation forces on the Novopavlivka front, near the village of Velyka Novosilka, are to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk region and the "Donetsk-Zaporizhzhia" highway. The invaders are carrying out offensive actions in columns.
An officer of the 110th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Marko Bezruchko (Suetolog) said this on 5 March during the telethon ‘United News’, Censor.NET reports citing Suspilne.
According to him, Russian troops are pressing north of Velyka Novosilka.
According to the General Staff, Russian troops attacked the positions of the Defence Forces 11 times in the Novopavlivka sector yesterday.
"At this stage, the enemy is considering Skudne and Burlatske directions. They want to reach the frontline where they can move not on foot, in groups, but on vehicles. The enemy's overall objective is to reach the border of Donetsk region," he said.
The Russian army is constantly increasing pressure, including sending reinforcements, the military said.
"We are firmly holding this line, preventing the enemy from advancing. The enemy is constantly deploying assault units: brigades and motorised rifle regiments. They have now brought in three motorised rifle brigades and one motorised rifle regiment, which they have deployed in the direction of Velyka Novosilka. They are now actively conducting offensive actions from this direction," says an officer of the 110th Brigade.
In addition, the enemy is trying to attack with armoured vehicles and is putting pressure on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with infantry groups.
The enemy is shelling the logistics of the Defence Forces, including bridges and roads, with guided aerial bombs.
"They have been attacking in columns and have not been successful. Now, claiming that they have a small resource of armoured vehicles, they are using foot soldiers. They are using tactics in small groups of 5-10 soldiers, the so-called ‘rolling attack’. If ten of them fail to carry out an assault, they keep 20 soldiers in reserve to reinforce and consolidate in areas where they have had success. There is also constant support from artillery and FPV," added the 110th Brigade soldier.
