Why did I have to defend Ukraine before Russia’s attack? It was economically at war with Belarus, - Lukashenko

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Ukraine started an "economic war" with Belarus before the West. He would not have defended Kyiv if he had known about Russia's plans to launch a full-scale attack.
According to Censor.NET, he said this in an interview with American blogger Mario Naufal.
According to him, on the eve of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine and Belarus were allegedly in a state of economic war.
"I am often asked if I knew that this war would start in February three years ago. No, I did not know. But if I had known, I would not have defended Ukraine then. Because at that moment, we were already in an economic war with Ukraine," the Belarusian dictator said.
Lukashenko claims that Ukraine "earlier than the Americans and Western Europe" imposed sanctions on Belarus, closed the borders and "arrested freight cars."
He also says that Ukraine allegedly arrested 75 Belarusian citizens and allegedly killed 3.
"Why did I have to defend Ukraine? It escalated with Belarus before the Americans and the rest of the West did. Therefore, we have nothing to blame them for. But despite this, we were in favor of not having a war, but peace. This was our position. And in the first days of the war, I called Zelenskyy and told him all this," Lukashenko added.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in the first days of the war, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko apologized for attacks from his country's territory.
Lukashenko's spokeswoman denied that the Belarusian dictator had apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
