Ukraine could make "gesture of gratitude" by allowing gas transit from Russia, - Slovak President Pellegrini

Slovakia wants to resume Russian gas transit through Ukraine

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini expects a ‘gesture of gratitude’ from Ukraine, namely the resumption of Russian gas transit.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Akuality.

Thus, the Slovak leader proposes to hold an EU-US summit to strengthen transatlantic relations.

At the same time, Pellegrini understands why Robert Fico wants the conclusions of the EU summit to include Ukraine's permission to transit gas through its territory to Europe.

According to him, this protects Slovakia's national interests.

The president believes that Fico is trying to create pressure that if the EU continues to help Ukraine, which has certain consequences, Ukraine could make a gesture of gratitude by allowing gas transit.

"I cannot blame him for this, for this harsh rhetoric, because he is defending Slovakia's national interests," Pellegrini said.
