Largest EU countries opposed allocation of a 20 billion euro aid package to Ukraine - media

EU is against 20 billion euro aid package for Ukraine

The largest EU countries do not support the proposal to provide Ukraine with a 20 billion euro aid package.

A top EU diplomat told Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, 10-12 member states support this package, mainly from Northern and Eastern Europe and the Baltics.

"Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium say: OK. It's great that they showed the initiative, but as such, it is not compatible with how we function. We are already providing assistance. In my country, for example, we provide a lot, but we do not plan it a year in advance. We discuss it first of all with the Ukrainians. They tell us what they need, what we can do. And we can provide it," the source said.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the EU is working on a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 20 billion euros.
