MFA on Italy’s idea to extend NATO Article 5 to Ukraine: We are in touch to find out specifics

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that it was in touch with Italian partners to find out the specifics of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's idea to extend Article 5 of NATO to Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi at a briefing.
Thus, it is noted that the Ukrainian side welcomes the statement of the Italian Prime Minister as part of the discussion on providing Ukraine with early security guarantees and ensuring security and peace for Ukraine in general.
"We are in touch with our Italian partners to find out the specifics of this proposal. It has now been voiced as a general idea. We want to understand what exactly is meant by this conversation in more detail, more specifically," Tykhyi said.
According to him, Ukraine believes that it is de facto already part of the collective security of the Euro-Atlantic area, so ‘concerns and fears regarding Ukraine's integration into NATO’ have been and remain exaggerated.
Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni proposed extending NATO's Article 5 on collective security to Ukraine without membership in the Alliance.
