The EU is currently discussing the details of a €40 billion emergency military aid package for Ukraine.

This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Censor.NET reports citing the European Parliament.

She emphasized that the EU is discussing its initiative to provide Ukraine with military assistance totaling 40 billion euros, which has received broad political support from EU states.

"With regard to Ukraine, there is broad political support for a 40 billion (euro) defense initiative. Of course, now the discussion is about the details. At the last European Council meeting (March 6 - Ed.), we came to the conclusion that we need to move quickly with this initiative, and we have done some more work on this issue," Kallas said.

The EU High Representative added that "everyone at the table understood that we have to demonstrate our resolve right now and support Ukraine so that it can defend itself."

Earlier it was reported that the EU proposes to create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine of up to 40 billion euros.
