Enemy is trying to advance near Chasiv Yar and Toretsk – General Staff
Since the beginning of the day, March 17, 2025, 98 combat engagements have taken place at the front.

As noted, the Defense Forces are taking the necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory.
Strikes on the territory of Ukraine
Today, hostile artillery and mortar fire affected the communities of Khrinivka in the Chernihiv region; Oleksandrivka, Myropilske, Popivka, Bila Bereza, Kruzhok, Petrushivka, Shalyhine, and Ulanove in the Sumy region.
Situation in Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our units three times in the direction of Kamianka and Zakhidne, two of the combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian occupiers carried out five attacks near Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka and Bohuslavka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
The situation in the East
According to the General Staff, in the Lyman direction, the invading army launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Nove, Olhivka, Zarichne and Yampolivka. Three combat engagements are currently underway.
"In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy is trying to advance in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Stupochky and Kurdiumivka. Two of the five attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces, and the fighting continues," the statement said.
It is also noted that in the Toretsk direction, the enemy is trying to break into our defense in the areas of Toretsk, Dachne, Druzhba, Ozarianivka, Dyliivka and Leonidivka. Four attacks are ongoing, and our defenders have already repelled 13 attacks.
"In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian invaders have made 31 attempts to push our troops from their positions near the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Svyrydonivka, Promin, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Bohdanivka and Andriivka. Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the attack and repelled 25 attacks, six engagements are still ongoing. Russian terrorists' aviation struck Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, Leontovychi, Zvirove, Novoserhiivka, Horikhove, Nadiiivka and Oleksiiivka with guided aerial bombs," the statement said.
The situation in the South
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy assaults, and another firefight is currently ongoing. The enemy is trying to advance in the areas of Pryvilne, Vesele and Kostiantynopil.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled eight enemy attacks in the vicinity of Novosilka and Novopil. Shevchenko village was attacked by two guided bombs.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove and Lobkove.
"The operation in the Kursk region continues. Ukrainian soldiers repelled four enemy attacks today, five more combat engagements are still ongoing. The invaders' aviation carried out seven strikes, dropping nine GABs. In addition, the enemy fired 165 artillery shells at the positions of our troops and localities," the General Staff emphasizes.
No combat engagements took place in the Siversk and Prydniprovske directions today.
No significant changes were recorded in other areas.
Earlier, DeepState reported that Russians are amassing manpower for assaults on Kostiantynopil.
