Zelenskyy and military commanders are not responsible for delayed withdrawal of AFU from Kursk region - "servant of people" Venislavskyi. VIDEO
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the military command are immune from liability for decisions made on the battlefield. This also applies to the withdrawal of Ukrainian units from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, "servant of the people" Fedir Venislavskyi, Censor.NET reports citing Radio Liberty.
Thus, the MP commented on the statements of Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov, who believes that the Armed Forces should have been withdrawn from the Kursk region in January 2025.
"According to my information, the Ukrainian command prepared a withdrawal plan in advance, but it was not implemented. And this is what led to the loss of control in some units. And to significant losses during the disorganized withdrawal... Political decisions interfered with the military. And it was these absolutely ill-considered statements by the political leadership - let's change Sudzha for something - that led to a completely inadequate, unreasonable tasking of the troops. And this resulted in significant losses," the journalist said.
"Firstly, at the beginning of the war, we adopted a law that provides for the so-called combat immunity. This is when military commanders and chiefs are not legally responsible for decisions made on the battlefield. Because if we now blame every military leader for any failures at the front, there will be few who are ready to give orders at all, and war inevitably involves losses among people and equipment... Key decisions are made by the military. I am convinced that the president, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, assesses and makes some decisions, but I do not think the president directly insisted that this should be the case," the MP explained.
