Ukrzaliznytsia systems suffered a large-scale cyber attack: train traffic is stable, online ticket sales are not yet available

Ukrzaliznytsia's online systems have been subjected to a large-scale targeted cyberattack. All systems have been restored over the past day and are still being restored.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of "UZ".
As noted, "Ukrzaliznytsia" specialists work closely with the cyber department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
"The enemy has not succeeded in the key task: the train traffic is stable, they run smoothly without delays and all operational processes are adjusted in a backup format. The railway continues to move despite physical attacks on the infrastructure, and even the most vile cyber attacks cannot stop it!
Since 'Ukrzaliznytsia' has been the target of enemy cyberattacks in the past, the company has implemented backup protocols," the statement said.
The latest attack was very systematic, non-trivial and multi-level, so before full recovery from "backups", specialists from UZ, many partners involved and the SSU Cyber Department must thoroughly test services for possible vulnerabilities.
Online ticket sales are currently unavailable and we are preparing to work offline during this day.
How does UZ work?
✅Tickets are sold through ticket offices. We are strengthening the ticket offices with staff and expanding their working hours;
✅On 24 and 25 March, the sale of international tickets at the ticket offices is activated (usually only online);
✅In case of emergency, if you do not have time to buy a ticket at the ticket office, go directly to the train. Our train crews are informed about how to issue your ticket on the spot.
If you plan to travel later than the morning flights on 25.03
✅we strongly recommend not to storm the ticket offices today. They will work with an exceptional priority to serve passengers departing today and tomorrow;
✅UZ will inform as soon as online services are restored and everyone will be able to buy tickets online.
How do I return my tickets?
Anyone who wants to return their train ticket for the 24 March departure can do so online. Just send a scanned copy or a clear photo of your ticket and your contact phone number to [email protected] at least one hour before the departure of your flight. The refund request will be processed within 3 days from the moment the systems are restored.
Earlier it was reported that due to a technical failure in Ukrzaliznytsia's IT system, online services are currently down.
