Falsification of documents on unfitness for service: scheme exposed in Kyiv, - National Police. PHOTOS

The Kyiv Police and the SSU uncovered and dismantled schemes for the illegal transfer of persons liable for military service abroad.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

The groups consisted of men aged 34 to 68. They used their connections in the territorial recruitment centres and medical institutions to produce fictitious documents about unfitness for service. The cost of the "services" ranged from $6,000 to $25,000.

Law enforcement officers detained:

  • A 39-year-old and a 34-year-old resident of Kyiv region while receiving $25,000 in a restaurant;

  • A 68-year-old pensioner near the metro station while handing over $20,000;

  • Other defendants were caught during the transfer of funds in a Kyiv catering establishment.

The money and draft records were seized from the suspects. They were served suspicion notices under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code (organisation of illegal cross-border smuggling), and the doctor was additionally served notices under Part 5 of Article 27, Article 336 of the Criminal Code (assistance in evading mobilisation).

The suspects face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
