Tusk: Poland and NATO should be prepared for different scenarios of US negotiations with Russia and Ukraine

The situation in Ukraine will have an impact on the security of Poland and Europe, so both Poland and NATO should be prepared for different scenarios of US negotiations with Russia and Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, citing Interfax-Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this in Warsaw during a joint statement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
"It is obvious to us that the situation in Ukraine will have an impact on the security of Poland and Europe. There is no need to prove it. Nevertheless, negotiations are underway, and our influence, so to speak, on the negotiations is somewhat limited. Therefore, we, as Poland, we, as NATO, have to be prepared for different scenarios and for some scenarios that we did not write ourselves," he said.
At the same time, Tusk assured of close cooperation "on the prospects for peace for Ukraine." "There is no other nation that would welcome a quick, peaceful settlement so eagerly. But we know that a peaceful settlement must guarantee the full sovereignty of a free Ukraine. Only a fair and just peaceful settlement will give us all a sense of security. The reason why I mention this is not only because we are a country in solidarity and have stood by Ukraine from day one. This is also a prerequisite for our security, the security of Europe and the security of the Alliance," the Polish prime minister added.
He also said that he intends to take part in the next meeting of leaders in Paris on Thursday, during which they will discuss European security and the war in Ukraine.
Negotiations in Saudi Arabia
On March 24, in an evening video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after meeting with the Russian delegation in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation would meet again with the Ukrainian team.
It should also be noted that on Sunday evening, March 23, representatives of Ukraine and the United States met in Saudi Arabia to discuss a possible partial ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
On March 24, 2025, the American and Russian delegations held talks in Riyadh. They lasted 12 hours.
It is worth noting that the points of agreement between Ukraine and the United States include: a ceasefire regime in the Black Sea and freedom of navigation; a ban on strikes against energy infrastructure; monitoring with the involvement of the United States and third parties; a commitment to move toward an unconditional ceasefire; and U.S. assistance to Ukraine in returning children, civilian hostages, and facilitating prisoner exchanges.
The US statement following the talks with Russia contains a different clause instead of the one on the return of Ukrainians from Russian territory: facilitating the restoration of access to the world market for Russian agricultural products and fertilizers.
