On March 26, the Desnianskyi District Court of Chernihiv passed a verdict in the case of a 41-year-old man who shouted pro-Russian slogans during a moment of silence at the memorial stele to fallen soldiers earlier this year.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Suspilne.
As noted, the accused fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. In addition, he voluntarily transferred 100 thousand hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which the court took into account as a mitigating circumstance.
"I did a bad thing. I have nothing to say in my defense. It is also very difficult to explain my motives. It's the devil's work. It was an exceptional case. It will not happen again. I can assure you of that," the defendant said in court.
According to the court's decision, the man received four years of probation. During this time, he must regularly report to the probation office, not travel abroad without permission and report any changes in his place of residence or work.
The court also ruled to return the defendant's electric scooter and reflector seized during the investigation, but the cell phone with SIM cards will remain with the investigators.
As a reminder, on January 1, 2025 , in Chernihiv, a 41-year-old man shouted out words in support of Russia's aggression during a minute of silence in memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine and then fled on a scooter. Law enforcement officers detained him.
