Syrskyi voices Russian losses in Kursk region

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Defence Forces are conducting a defensive operation in the "Kursk" military grouping area.

He posted this on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Due to the increased intensity of the enemy's actions and the enemy's attempts to displace and transfer hostilities to the territory of Sumy region, I worked in Sumy region in airborne troops, marines, territorial defence, mechanised and some other units. Here, in the 'Kursk' operational area, our soldiers continue to conduct defensive operations to prevent the enemy from breaking through deep into the territory of Ukraine. For the same purpose, Ukrainian troops are carrying out effective counterattack and assault operations," the statement said.

During his work, Syrskyi noted, he studied in detail all the problematic issues related to the organisation of combat support, and also made decisions to replenish ammunition, drones and move reserves.

"In the seven and a half months since the start of the Kursk operation, the total losses inflicted by our soldiers on the enemy have amounted to more than 55,000 people. Of these, more than 22,200 are irrecoverable, more than 31,800 are sanitary casualties, and more than 940 are prisoners of war.

I am grateful to the soldiers in the Kursk sector for their efficiency and resilience. Thanks to you, we are holding the ‘sanitary zone’ on the territory of the aggressor country and blocking the enemy on the northern border of Sumy region. I am confident that new offensives and new victories are ahead of us," the Commander-in-Chief added.
