Ukraine and the United States held the first lengthy conversation on the minerals agreement proposed by the American side.

According to the source, on March 28, 2025, Ukraine and the United States discussed the first draft of a minerals agreement proposed by the American side. During the meeting, which took place with the participation of lawyers, work on the agreement continues.
"Ukraine is ready to continue working on it (the agreement - ed.)," the source said.
At the same time, as noted, American leader Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to abandon the agreement. Trump warned that in case of refusal to sign the document, there would be serious problems for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy confirmed that he had received a draft of the agreement and noted that Ukraine would not recognize US military aid as a debt, as the document stipulated. In addition, the President of Ukraine noted that the agreement would not be signed if it threatened Ukraine's accession to the EU. According to Bloomberg, the draft agreement gives U.S. companies the first right to invest in Ukraine's natural resources sector.
