US has not changed its policy towards Georgia - State Department

The US State Department has officially commented on the Trump administration's position on Georgia.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to European Pravda.
The US foreign ministry said it would continue to assess the approach to Georgia "to advance American interests".
"The United States has clearly outlined steps that the Georgian government can take to demonstrate that it is serious about improving relations with the United States," the commentary reads.
When asked about the anti-democratic actions of the "Georgian Dream", the State Department recalled the speech of US Vice President JD Vance in Munich, where he stated that "the democratic mandate cannot be achieved by censoring or imprisoning opponents".
"The United States has been a partner of Georgia and the Georgian people for 33 years and has been a staunch supporter of Georgia's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity," the State Department said.
As a reminder, the current Georgian government had pinned its hopes on Donald Trump's presidency to reset relations with the United States. Under Biden, the US criticised the rollback of democracy in Georgia, imposed visa sanctions on Georgian officials and limited cooperation with the "Georgian Dream" government.
