Zelenskyy: Talks between US and Russia on unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine continue

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the talks in Saudi Arabia, Russia did not agree to an unconditional ceasefire, but negotiations between the United States and the Russian side on this topic are ongoing.

He said this during a conversation with the heads of territorial communities in the Chernihiv region, Censor.NET reports.

"Then in Saudi Arabia, you know, we agreed to an unconditional ceasefire. Russia has not agreed to it yet, we see that. Although we know that there are conversations between Americans and Russians on this topic. There are non-public conversations," Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, the United States and Europe have their own interests in the issue of a quick ceasefire, and they are united in putting pressure on Russia.

"I think it is possible to do this as soon as possible in the coming weeks, maybe months, or it can be different: sometimes it happens in one moment. Especially with this part of the end of the war," he said.

The Head of State emphasized that the completion of the hot phase of the war is a complete ceasefire, and this is the right step that Ukraine supports.

"As for the other step, there will be time later, for example, the first agreements may take a month, two months, whatever, to be honest. But this is a chance for the countries to start diplomatic options for certain dialog formats. They can be really different, completely different. It takes time," Zelenskyy added.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that in the coming weeks or months there is an opportunity to force Russia to agree to a ceasefire.
