Occupiers are deliberately mining civilian objects, making restoration of liberated territories impossible – Lubinets

Occupiers deliberately mine civilian objects

Russian troops have been deliberately mining civilian objects, forests, roads, abandoned equipment, and even children's toys, and 336 people have died from explosive devices since February 2022, including 18 children.

This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, Censor.NET reports.

"Due to the Russian aggression, Ukraine has become one of the most mined countries in the world. The occupiers deliberately mine civilian objects, forests, roads, abandoned equipment and even children's toys. This creates a deadly danger for the population, makes it impossible to restore the destroyed territories and violates basic human rights," he said.

According to the Ombudsman, since February 2022, explosive devices have claimed the lives of 336 people, including 18 children, and injured another 825 people, including 92 children.

He also noted that, as of the end of 2024, about 139,000 km² of Ukraine's territory are considered potentially contaminated and need to be surveyed.
