Zelenskyy: United States will soon tighten sanctions against Russia over its unwillingness to end war

US sanctions

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that a bill would soon appear in Congress that would strengthen sanctions against Russia because of its unwillingness to end the war against Ukraine.

The head of state said this during a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"We believe that the United States will not lift sanctions, but rather will take steps to strengthen them. The daily strikes, and today's ballistic missile strike, are proof that we need strong sanctions against Putin. This will force them to stop, at least to stop the hot phase of this war," Zelenskyy said.

The President suggested that a corresponding initiative could soon appear in Congress.

"If the relevant law has not yet been registered in Congress, then I think the corresponding strong steps will be taken in the near future. (...) We have talked about this, this is the strengthening of sanctions pressure on the Russians, because they do not want to end the war," he emphasized, adding that "America is close to the appropriate measures."
