Canada is not sure whether it will join peacekeeping mission in Ukraine – Prime Minister Carney

Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney

Canada does not yet know whether it will participate in the potential deployment of an international peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine.

This was stated by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in an interview with Radio-Canada, Censor.NET reports.

"It depends on the circumstances," Carney said when asked about Canada's possible sending of peacekeepers to a potential mission in Ukraine.

At the same time, he emphasized that Canada is part of a "coalition of the willing" led by France and the United Kingdom.

"This is one of the topics of my discussions with these two leaders. I am very proud of the role of the Canadian government and the support of Canadians for the Ukrainian people," the prime minister said.

Carney emphasized that any peace agreement that Ukraine does not agree to, as well as Putin's demands to replace Zelenskyy as president, are unacceptable to him.

"This is unacceptable because Putin is the aggressor," he added.

Earlier, Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said that Canada is ready to provide troops to the peacekeeping forces of the United Kingdom and France if there is a ceasefire in Ukraine.
