Ukraine has already formed its position on subsoil agreement with US - Sybiha

The agreement on rare earth metals with the United States should be mutually beneficial and should not contradict Ukraine's European integration course.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha in a commentary to Ukrinform.

"The Ukrainian side will finalize the composition of the negotiation team, which will soon go to Washington for a substantive discussion of the text of the agreement proposed by the American side. We have already developed our position and our vision of the text of the future agreement," he said.

Sibiga emphasized that the future agreement should meet the interests of both sides and should not contradict Ukraine's course toward European integration.

"This is one of the principled positions for the Ukrainian side," he said.

Mr. Sybiha also confirmed that one of the leading law firms will be selected to support the negotiation process.

The delegation to Washington will include a representative of the Foreign Ministry, Sybiha added.

At the end of March, US President Donald Trump said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wanted to abandon the rare earth metals deal.

On March 23, Kyiv received a new draft agreement from the US side on control over Ukraine's critical mineral resources and energy assets. However, the United States does not offer Ukraine any security guarantees and is "aggressively expanding its previous demands."

Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that Ukraine had received a new text of the agreement. According to her, the Ukrainian side is studying it and will try to reach a consensus with its American partners.
