Paid 300 thousand and went to war in Ukraine: captured Chinese man wanted to get Russian citizenship
A Chinese citizen who was taken prisoner by the Ukrainian military during the fighting near Bilohorivka said that he joined the Russian army through an intermediary in China, paying 300,000 rubles. He was promised Russian citizenship, and underwent military training in the occupied Luhansk region.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported in a comment to Ukrayinska Pravda by the communications department of the Luhansk OTG.
How a Chinese man was taken prisoner
It is noted that during the fighting in the area of Bilohorivka, fighters of the 81st separate mechanised brigade captured three enemy soldiers. One of them was a citizen of the People's Republic of China.
He was detained during the fighting when the enemy assault group, under fire from Ukrainian soldiers, including UAV operators, decided to surrender.
Military training through gestures and a mobile interpreter
According to the prisoner himself, he joined the Russian army through an intermediary in China, paying 300,000 rubles for the opportunity to join the Russian Armed Forces.
He reported that he was trained in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region as part of a group consisting of citizens of the People's Republic of China. The training covered basic military skills and was conducted without an interpreter - using gestures and a mobile translator.
According to him, the main motivation was the desire to become a military serviceman and obtain Russian Federation citizenship. He also noted that some members of the group had problems with the law in China.
Due to the language barrier, he was not fully aware of the situation during the assault. During the battle, the group suffered losses and, unable to continue resistance, decided to surrender.
Chinese citizen cooperates with investigative authorities
His identity and citizenship have been confirmed. According to him, his family knew about his intentions to travel to Russia, but he officially left as a tourist.
The communications department of the Luhansk OTG also stressed that Ukraine strictly adheres to the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War. All the necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out with the captured Chinese citizen.

As reported earlier, Ukrainian defenders captured two Chinese citizens in Donetsk region. They fought as part of the Russian army.
According to the president, the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in a battle with six Chinese in Donetsk region near the settlements of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka, after which two were taken prisoner.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China because of the participation of the country's citizens in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.
US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the US is aware that Ukraine has captured two Chinese citizens who fought on the side of Russia.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the information about two Chinese citizens captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, noting that they are checking the information.
