US President Trum

US President Donald Trump has extended for a year the package of sanctions against Russia, which was put in place during the term of former White House Chief of Staff Joe Biden.

This is reported by the US Federal Register, Censor.NET reports.

"Extension of the state of emergency due to certain harmful foreign policy actions of the Government of the Russian Federation...

On April 15, 2021, the President declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) to counter an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States posed by certain harmful foreign activities of the Government of the Russian Federation," the text of the decree reads.

It is noted that this document specifies the "harmful foreign activities" of the Russian government - in particular, efforts to "undermine free and fair democratic elections and democratic institutions in the United States and its allies and partners; engage in and facilitate malicious cyber activities against the United States and its allies and partners; promote and use transnational corruption to influence foreign governments; engage in extraterritorial activities targeting dissidents or journalists; undermine security in countries and regions important to the national security of the United States; and violate well-established principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of states, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States."

Thus, according to the decree, the additional measures should continue for another 1 year after April 15, 2025.

Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump believes that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is delaying the process of peace talks. The US administration is preparing for stricter control of sanctions, including those against Russia's "shadow fleet".
