A rocket attack on the center of Sumy on 13 April 2025 left 21 dead and 34 wounded, including 5 children.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, Censor.NET reports.
"Under the procedural supervision of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the commission of a war crime that resulted in the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
According to the investigation, on 13 April 2025, at about 10:15 a.m., the Russian military launched two missile strikes on the center of Sumy.
"As of noon, it is known that 21 people were killed and 34 were wounded, including 5 children, as a result of the enemy attack," the statement said.
Rescue operations are ongoing, the number of victims is being clarified.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later clarified: "As of 12:20, 21 people were killed. 83 people are wounded, including 7 children. Everyone is being provided with medical aid.
Emergency services continue to work at the scene. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. We grieve with you."

"As of 13:40, 31 people were killed, including 2 children. 84 people were injured, including 10 children," the SES added later.

As of 18:00, the State Emergency Service reports 34 dead as a result of the Russian attack on Sumy.
117 people were injured, including 15 children.
As a reminder, on April 13, 2025, Russian troops struck Sumy with ballistic missiles. Significant destruction and a large number of casualties were reported.
