More than six countries are ready to deploy troops to Ukraine, - Estonian Defense Minister Pevkur

Pevkur on the deployment of troops in Ukraine

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said that he disagrees with some statements that only six countries are ready to deploy troops to Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, Pevkur said this in an interview with Radio Liberty after a meeting of defense ministers of 30 countries of the "coalition of the willing" on April 10 in Brussels at NATO headquarters.

"I do not agree that only six countries are ready for deployment. There are definitely more. Right now there are issues that need to be resolved," the minister said. As noted, he was referring to the publication of the AR edition, which stated that only 6 countries are ready to send their troops to Ukraine as part of the efforts of the "coalition of the willing."

According to him, the key conditions include a request from Ukraine and a clear definition of the mandate, rules of engagement and ceasefire.

"There are many questions: what will be the mandate, what will be the rules of engagement, whether the ceasefire should already be in place. When we are able to resolve these issues, as well as some others - in particular, military planning - then we will be able to see a much larger number of countries ready to be in Ukraine to restore Ukrainian forces," Pevkur added.
