UK sends almost $1 billion from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine - Reuters

The first tranche of the British loan will come to Ukraine next week

On Monday, April 14, the British government transferred 752 million pounds ($990 million) to Ukraine as part of the Group of Seven (G7) credit support mechanism. The funds were provided at the expense of frozen Russian assets.

This is reported by Reuters, Censor.NET informs.

This is the second tranche of the planned three totaling £2.26 billion. The first payment of the same amount was made on March 6, and the third is expected in 2026.

In her commentary to the event, British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves emphasized the global challenges that prompted strong support for Ukraine:

"The world is changing before our eyes, reshaped by global instability, including Russian aggression in Ukraine."
