Russians attempted to break through defenses in south twice in week – Southern Defense Forces

In the southern sector, Russian invaders attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses using a new tactic involving entire battalions. However, the assault failed — the occupiers failed to seize any positions.
As reported by Censor.NET, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, stated this during a broadcast on "My—Ukraina."
"Today, the enemy amassed a certain number of personnel and equipment in the southern direction to carry out assault operations, mainly involving small infantry assault groups. Twice already, the enemy has launched assault actions as part of larger units — in other words, their tactics have changed. These units were roughly the size of a mechanized motorized rifle battalion. The enemy employed combat vehicles, armored equipment, and tanks. However, despite conducting this assault for more than two and a half hours, they achieved no success and sustained losses instead. Both the first assault, which took place on Sunday (April 13 - ed.), and the second one — the day before yesterday — brought no results, as the enemy failed to seize any positions held by the Defense Forces," he said.
Enemy losses in the south over the past 24 hours amount to:
- 95 occupiers;
- 18 artillery systems;
- 27 units of motor and armored vehicles;
- 1 tank;
- 14 UAVs (including 2 Supercam, 10 Orlan, 3 Zala, 1 Sarych-2, and 1 Merlin);
- 4 electronic warfare (EW) stations;
- 4 boats, 6 motorcycles, and 2 quad bikes;
- 1 surveillance camera;
- 2 UAV control antennas, 3 communication antennas, and 5 Starlink antennas;
- 2 generators.
Also, 52 shelters and dugouts, a checkpoint and a firing position were destroyed.
