We have sense of optimism about ceasefire talks - Vance

Ceasefire. Vance is optimistic

US Vice President JD Vance is optimistic about the ceasefire talks between Ukraine and Russia.

He said this during a visit to Rome, Censor.NET reports citing Reuters as saying.

"I want to update the prime minister (Giorgia Meloni - Ed.) on some of the talks between Russia and Ukraine... even in the last 24 hours, we think we have some interesting things to report.

Since there are the negotiations I won't prejudge them, but we do feel optimistic that we can hopefully bring this war, this very brutal war, to a close," he added.

Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if US efforts to stop the war in Ukraine failed within a few days, Trump would be told that negotiations were no longer a viable option.

Trump said he was expecting a response from Russia on the ceasefire in Ukraine this week.
