Trump sent Pentagon representatives to Kyiv to resume peace talks - media

US President Donald Trump sent a high-level Pentagon delegation to Kyiv as part of an attempt to resume negotiations on ending Russia's war in Ukraine.

Two officials said that Army Minister Dan Driscoll, along with two US Army generals, is to hold talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other officials, as well as representatives of the military and industrial circles.
Later, Driskoll plans to meet with Russian officials.
Purpose of the visit
According to Politico, at first glance, Driscoll's visit to Kyiv on a peacekeeping mission may seem like an unusual decision.
But the army veteran and friend of Vice President Jay D. Vance from Yale Law School has become an important figure at the Pentagon and may now take on a more prominent role.
Defense Minister Pete Hegseth did not travel to Kyiv," the publication notes.
Politico also writes that the main goal of the visit will be to engage Ukrainian leaders in the protracted peace process with Russia, despite Moscow's rejection of all previous attempts by the US and Ukraine to stop the fighting.
