Police have exposed Kyiv resident who was selling fake disability certificates via OLX for $9,000. PHOTOS

A man has been caught in Kyiv offering to arrange fake disability certificates via the OLX marketplace to evade conscription.

According to Censor.NET, this information has been provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office and the capital’s police.

The scheme via an advertisement

According to the investigation, a 34-year-old Kyiv resident posted an advertisement on the OLX.ua website offering to help conscripts deregister and obtain disability status.

He claimed to have connections among medical staff who are part of expert teams assessing an individual’s functional capacity, as well as among representatives of the military medical commissions of the TCR and SS

Arrested whilst receiving payment

The suspect received $9,000 from the client for his "services".

Immediately after the handover of the funds, he was arrested by law enforcement officers.

Additional findings

During a search of the man’s car, an F-1 combat grenade was discovered and seized.

As a result, he faces an additional charge of unlawful handling of ammunition.

Suspicion and punishment

The suspect has been informed of the suspicion that he demanded and received unlawful benefits for influencing the decisions of doctors and representatives of military medical commissions.

The penalty under the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.

The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail.

As of 27 March, no bail had been posted for the suspect.
