Russia is moving additional forces to south of front, - Southern Defense Forces

Russia is transferring assault units to the south. What is known?

The Russian command is moving additional forces to the southern sector of the front—forces that are typically used for offensive operations rather than defense.

This was reported by Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, according to Censor.NET, citing RBC-Ukraine.

Russia is reinforcing its troops in the south

According to him, some units are undergoing reorganization and are being reinforced with personnel and military equipment.

Specifically, the 120th Marine Division was placed under the operational command of the 29th Russian Army in the Oleksandrivka sector.

The 120th Division will receive up to 50 tanks, approximately 4,500 personnel, up to 150 armored vehicles, and up to 150 units of other weapons and military equipment from the Russian "Vostok" group. "They are preparing for this division to operate in the direction of the town of Pokrovske in the Dnipropetrovsk region," said a spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.

What are Russia's intentions?

Voloshyn explained that the division's mission is to block Ukrainian counterattacks, seize the tactical initiative, and continue its attempts to advance in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

At the same time, the enemy is reinforcing its forces on the adjacent Huliaypole sector of the front, from where it plans to launch an offensive westward, deeper into the Zaporizhzhia region.

"The 40th Separate Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet recently arrived in this area," Voloshin said.

He clarified that the Russian 5th Army, which is currently conducting operations directly in the Huliaipole sector, has also been placed under the operational command of the Pacific Fleet’s 55th Marine Division.
