Iranian president has addressed American people in open letter. Trump will deliver speech later

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has published an open letter to the American people, in which he urged them to take a critical view of official political rhetoric and to form their own opinions about events.
This is reported by Censor.NET, citing the Associated Press.
An appeal to Americans and an assessment of the conflict
In his letter, the Iranian leader stated that relations between Iran and the US are often presented in a distorted light. According to him, Tehran has historically not been the initiator of wars or aggressive expansion.
Pezeshkian questioned the wisdom of the current confrontation for US citizens, asking whether it served their interests and whether there was a real threat that could justify military action. He also emphasised that Iran does not seek dominance in the region, despite its capabilities.
The statement also addresses Washington’s role. The Iranian president stated that the US is effectively acting as Israel’s proxy, whilst describing Tehran’s actions as legitimate self-defence and a measured response to external challenges.
US statements and conditions for ending the conflict
US President Donald Trump is expected to address the nation shortly, during which he may announce the end of the military conflict with Iran. According to sources, he plans to declare victory for the United States.
- Earlier, during a conversation with European Council President António Costa, the Iranian president expressed his readiness to end the confrontation. He stated that the main condition for this was receiving clear guarantees that further acts of aggression against Iran would not be repeated.
