Success in Dnipropetrovsk region was made possible by decision not to expend resources on retaking Huliaipole, - Filatov, commander of 1st SAR

This result in the Dnipropetrovsk region was achieved thanks to a change in the defensive strategy on other sections of the front.
According to Censor.NET, Dmytro Filatov, commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment and known by the call sign Perun, spoke about this in an interview with "Ukrainska Pravda."
"If you're interested in the deeper meaning of all this, let me put it this way. We managed to achieve results in the Dnipropetrovsk region because the commander-in-chief agreed not to expend resources or manpower on retaking Huliaipole.
Instead, we went on the defensive there, as much as possible. And we used the freed-up forces and resources to improve our tactical position on the flank. There is a ridge of hills with fortifications there, where we are currently holding our defense," the military officer noted.
This is how Filatov explained his statement that "Huliaipole is almost occupied, but that’s part of the plan." According to the military official, the Defense Forces’ initial plan called for a different course of action, but there were insufficient forces and resources to fully implement it.
At the same time, the officer did not specify who exactly made the decision to abandon holding certain positions in the Huliaipole area and switch to defensive tactics.
"I’ll keep quiet. I can say that Huliaipole wasn’t left to fend for itself—assault units were redeployed there, and the 5th Assault Brigade and the 225th Regiment moved in. We could have brought in two more airborne brigades and three more assault regiments. But it is very difficult to conduct combat operations in an urbanized area. We would not have achieved any tactical gains there; we would simply have worn down our forces against the enemy.
Instead, we halted his advance in the Dnipropetrovsk region, blocked further opportunities for him to advance, and narrowed his zone of influence. Going forward, he will abandon offensive operations in this sector, and the situation here will stabilize. Additionally, our offensive actions will force the enemy to withdraw and redeploy its units here from the Pokrovsk direction, which will significantly ease the situation for the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine and the 7th Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces," Filatov added.
What preceded it?
The Russian command is moving additional forces to the southern sector of the front—forces that are typically used for offensive operations rather than defense.
