HACC imposes preventive measures with bail of up to UAH 19.9 million on suspects in state grain corporation embezzlement case – SAPO

At the request of NABU detectives, approved by an SAPO prosecutor, investigating judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) imposed preventive measures on three members of an organized criminal group involved in the misappropriation of grain belonging to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine JSC.
This was reported by the SAPO press service, Censor.NET reports.
What preventive measures were imposed
- A former head of a department at the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine JSC was remanded in custody with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of UAH 3,328,000.
- A trusted person of the representative of the company was remanded in custody with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of UAH 19.9 million.
- An accomplice was also remanded in custody with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of UAH 5 million.
Background
As reported earlier, on April 2, a large-scale corruption scheme involving the misappropriation of grain belonging to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine JSC (SFGCU) was uncovered. The organized criminal group included former senior officials of the state corporation and representatives of a foreign company. The group misappropriated more than 100,000 tonnes of grain worth UAH 776 million.
Notices of suspicion were served on the former chairman of the board of SFGCU JSC; the former director of the trading department of SFGCU JSC; the director and ultimate beneficial owner of a non-resident company; a trusted person of the representative of the non-resident company; and an accomplice in the crime.
