Occupants threaten media and social networks in Crimea

Crimea's "authorities" are set to monitor media and social networks to counter "extremism."

As reported by Censor.NET citing RIA Novosti, head of the Crimean "government" state committee on interethnic relations and deported citizens Zaur Smirnov said.

According to him, a special program to combat "extremist ideology" will be introduced before the Crimean "government" in mid-January.

"The program is intended to counter the spread of extremist ideology and terrorism in the republic. Special attention will be paid to monitoring media and social networks to pinpoint the source of extremist ideas," the official said. "In addition, certain preventive measures will be carried out among pupils and students, as the youth are the most vulnerable to the influence of radical ideas from the outside," he added.

"All evidence of extremist ideas will be passed over to law enforcement agencies for quick response and legal treatment," Smirnov said.
