Prosecutor general requests parliament’s consent to arrest MP Onyshchenko. DOCUMENT (in Ukrainian)
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko has drafted a motion requesting the Verkhovna Rada’s consent to criminal prosecution, detention and pretrial confinement of lawmaker Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
As reported by Censor.NET, he published the corresponding document on Facebook.
"I submit the motion on criminal prosecution, detention and pretrial confinement of lawmaker Oleksandr Onyshchenko for the consideration by the Verkhovna Rada in accordance with Part 2 of the Article 80 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Part 1 of the Article 27 of the Law of Ukraine "On the status of Members of the Ukrainian Parliament", Part 2 of the Article 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the Article 218 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine"," the document reads.
Earlier, NABU searched MP Onyshchenko's formal chamber on June 15. NABU Head Artem Sytnyk explained that the agency was carrying out 37 raids in three cities as part of the criminal case filed into corrupt practices with gas sale. 10 people were detained under this case.
The large scale embezzlement and creation of a crime ring inflicted damage to the state in the amount of almost 3 billion hryvnia. The investigators suspect this crime ring to be run by Onyshchenko.
Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Kholodnytskyi has already drafted a motion on Oleksandr Onyshchenko's arrest.
