Man fatally wounded TCR serviceman in Lviv: police officer fired at attacker

On the night of 21 August, on Stepan Bandera Street in Lviv, whilst his documents were being checked, a 25-year-old local resident attacked a 55-year-old member of the Territorial Defence Forces and Special Forces with a knife. The soldier died in the ambulance as a result of his injuries.
This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police, as relayed by Censor.NET.
What is known
According to preliminary information, whilst measures were being carried out to inform the public about mobilisation and to check military registration documents, a 25-year-old resident of Lviv attacked a serviceman and inflicted a stab wound on him.
"The police officer, who was part of the public awareness team, in accordance with Article 46 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the National Police’, used his service firearm to avert a threat to the soldier’s life and health. The officer fired two shots at the attacker, as a result of which the latter sustained a leg injury. The attacker has been hospitalised," the statement said.
Soldier died in the ambulance
Despite resuscitation efforts, the 55-year-old TCR serviceman died in the ambulance.
An investigative team, patrol police officers and other relevant services are working at the scene.
The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
