Costa discusses Ukraine’s EU accession and EUR 90 billion loan with Koretskyi
European Council President António Costa met Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi in Kyiv.
According to Censor.NET, Costa announced this on the social media platform X.
According to Costa, during the meeting he reaffirmed the European Union’s full support for and cooperation with Ukraine.
Ukraine’s path to EU at centre of meeting
The parties discussed Ukraine’s progress towards accession to the European Union, as well as the country’s economic situation.
Costa noted that Ukraine continued to implement the necessary reforms while the EU was moving forward with its accession process.
"As Ukraine continues to deliver on reforms, we are moving forward with the EU accession process," the European Council President noted.
EU loan helps Ukraine prepare for winter
Costa also recalled the EUR 90 billion European loan.
According to him, the funds are helping Ukraine prepare for winter and finance its defence and other budgetary needs.
The government programme provides for opening all EU accession negotiation clusters during 2026–2027. Ukraine must also ensure that it is ready to close them during 2027.
