Despite the global fuel crisis and enemy attacks on petrol stations, the country has a steady supply of fuel, petrol stations are open, and there is no cause for panic buying.
This was stated by representatives of Ukraine’s largest petrol stations, according to Censor.NET.
Ukraine continues to be supplied with fuel despite the crisis
"The military conflict between the US and Iran has triggered a global fuel crisis, causing fuel prices worldwide to reach an all-time high in the history of the oil refining industry. Due to the destruction of its main oil refining facilities by the enemy, Ukraine is almost entirely dependent on imports and the situation on global markets. Salaries in Ukraine and Europe differ, but the global fuel market, unfortunately, is the same for everyone. Furthermore, the consequences of the global fuel crisis are being exacerbated by Russian attacks on Ukrainian petrol stations. However, despite all this, the combined efforts of the government and petrol station networks are keeping the system stable. The market is functioning, fuel is being supplied, and petrol stations are continuing to operate. There are no grounds for panic buying," stated the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Association, which brings together the largest petrol station chains.
Petrol station operators are stepping up security and keeping prices in check
According to the statement, market operators will step up security at petrol stations, keep prices in check and ensure a stable supply of fuel to Ukraine.
Firstly, they are strengthening the physical security of petrol stations, fitting out shelters and updating staff operating procedures. Secondly, they have diversified their supply sources, so current supplies meet the needs of both the military and the civilian population. And thirdly, they have optimised costs, logistics and procurement, which is keeping price rises in check.
As Serhii Kuiun, a petroleum products market expert and director of the ‘A-95 Consulting Group’, previously wrote, prices at petrol stations across Europe have hit their highest level since 1970, but the situation regarding fuel prices is expected to stabilise.
