Key defensive area protecting Lyman is now in Ukrainian hands – Butusov
The liberation of Shandryholove and Drobysheve has strengthened the defence of Lyman.
This was stated by Yurii Butusov, commander of a UAV company in the 23rd Assault Regiment of the National Guard’s 2nd Khartiia Corps, during a live broadcast on the Butusov Plus YouTube channel, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, the liberation of the villages of Shandryholove and Drobysheve by the 3rd Corps is currently of crucial importance to the defence of Lyman.
"This is the last ridge of high ground covering the approaches to Lyman. I took part in those battles in May 2022. I was at the positions of paratroopers from the 79th Brigade, who fought courageously and heroically for Shandryholove and Drobysheve.
"This was a key sector; the enemy was advancing and throwing all its forces there to break through to Lyman. In fact, at the beginning of this year, the enemy managed to capture almost all of Shandryholove and a significant part of Drobysheve. The Russian Defence Ministry ceremoniously announced their capture, but we can now see that this DeepState map is completely accurate. As a result of a rapid counterattack, both Drobysheve and Shandryholove have now been liberated and retaken, and full control over them has been restored. Thus, the gateway to Lyman is in Ukrainian hands. In other words, the key defensive area protecting Lyman is now entirely defended by Ukrainian troops," Butusov explained.
