Two FSB agents sentenced to life, another to 15 years in prison for sabotage in Kyiv region – SSU. PHOTO
Based on evidence gathered by the Security Service of Ukraine, two members of an FSB sabotage and reconnaissance group neutralised by the SSU in the Kyiv region in June 2024 were sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. A third member of the same group was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Directing strikes and recruiting perpetrators: activities of FSB group
The investigation established that members of the enemy cell operated jointly in different regions of Ukraine under the direction of an officer of the Russian intelligence service.
Following his instructions, the agents monitored Ukrainian energy and military infrastructure facilities that Russia was preparing to target with missile strikes.
In addition, they searched for and recruited potential spotters for the FSB, as well as perpetrators of commissioned acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks.
What is known about the organiser?
The investigation established that the agent group was organised by a resident of the Obukhiv district in the Kyiv region who had been recruited by the enemy. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers after posting anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channel chats.
The agent subsequently recruited his brother and another relative to cooperate with Russia. The traitors then set fire to equipment at four electrical substations in the capital region.
The enemy accomplices also planned to derail a Ukrzaliznytsia freight train in the Kyiv region.
Arrest of the traitors
However, SSU officers arrested all three traitors during the initial stage of preparations for the act of sabotage.
During searches, investigators found seven pistols with ammunition, combat grenades, drugs and smartphones containing evidence of their work for the FSB.
What did the court decide?
Based on evidence gathered by Security Service investigators, the court found the agents guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law);
- Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 113(sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law);
- Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives);
- Part 2 of Article 309 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
