Nawrocki: If there is US military base in Poland, it will be called ’Fort Trump’
The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, has expressed the hope that the US will finally approve plans to establish a permanent military base in Poland. If this happens, it will be named ‘Fort Trump’.
The Polish president made these remarks in an interview with Bloomberg, according to Censor.NET.
The base is named after Trump
Nawrocki is convinced that a decision on the military base is "only a matter of time". He added that he would like the construction to be completed before President Donald Trump’s term of office ends in 2029.
"Once the US administration and both governments have finalised their work, I think President Trump will then be able to attend the opening ceremony of 'Fort Trump' in person," said Nawrocki on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Willingness to accept more US troops
Furthermore, Nawrocki noted that Poland, which currently hosts around 10,000 American troops on a rotational basis, would be prepared to host some of the soldiers currently stationed in Germany should the US decide to reduce its presence there.
"We are in the midst of a hybrid war. Russian provocations, on the one hand, are shaping the future battlefield, but, on the other, they are testing NATO’s resilience. The situation is certainly serious," said the Polish President.

- Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, officials in Warsaw redoubled their efforts to ensure the presence of US troops.
What led up to it
It should be recalled that on 17 September, US President Donald Trump stated that, thanks to the "bold leadership" of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, significant progress was being made towards the establishment of a US military base in Poland.
