EU may open two further negotiation clusters for Ukraine as early as next week, - Kos

The European Union may open two further negotiation clusters for Ukraine and Moldova as early as next week. However, for Ukraine to make progress, the Verkhovna Rada must adopt legislative amendments concerning the educational rights of national minorities.
According to Censor.NET, citing "European Truth", this was stated by Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, following a meeting of the Moldova–EU Association Council in Brussels on 5 October.
"It is possible that we will launch the next two clusters for Moldova and Ukraine as early as next week during the intergovernmental conferences in Luxembourg," said Kos.
At the same time, the European Commissioner emphasised that, for this to happen, the Ukrainian parliament must pass the necessary draft law. This concerns amendments to education legislation regarding the educational rights of national minorities.
"We are very familiar with the procedures in the Verkhovna Rada, but we hope that the law will be passed by the Rada. As soon as that happens, the Member States will have to speed up the process," said Kos.
The need for these amendments stems from Hungary’s demands regarding the safeguarding of the educational rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
